Governor announces fresh employment for 1,000 teachers

The people of Loko and Udege Development Areas, have appreciated Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for bringing development to the areas, voting to deliver the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during next month’s general election.

The people of Loko and Udege Development Areas made this known when they hosted Engineer Sule, after the Governor commenced the second phase of his campaign across the 18 development areas of the state, on Monday.

Governor Sule announced that plans are underway to recruit another 1000 teachers in order to meet demands for teachers, as well as create employment opportunities for youths.

The Sule administration has reportedly recruited over 3,000 teachers, aiming at boosting the standard of education in the state.

The Governor equally pleaded with local government chairmen and development area overseers, to jerk up the payment of outstanding promotions allowances to 50 percent, promising that all outstanding promotions allowances owed civil servants in the state will be paid in full before May 29th.

As part of the schedule lined up for the campaign activities, Sule paid homage at the palaces of the Mai Loko, HRH Alhaji Umar Sabo, as well as the Osu Ojiri, HRH Alhaji Halilu Bala Usman, before interacting with stakeholders in both Loko and Udege.

In Loko, the Mai Loko, HRH Alhaji Umar Sabo, appreciated the Governor for restoring peace and security in the area.

The royal father particularly thanked Engineer Sule for embarking on the electrification work of the ancient town of Loko, which is nearing completion, adding that the only way the people could return the favour is to vote massively for the APC during the coming election.

“The only way we can show our appreciation is to deliver mass votes for the APC. It’s only during your administration that we are having indigines of Loko being appointed into government.

“Before now, it was impossible to travel to Tunga, Nasarawa because of the activities of bandits but today, you have restored back security. There is no reason why a citizen of Loko will not return this favour by voting for you,” the Mai Loko stated.

On his part, the Osu Ojiri, HRH Alhaji Halilu Bala Usman, commended Engineer Sule for his development strides and for executing projects and services that have direct bearing on the welfare and livelihoods of the people.

The Osu Ojiri specifically thanked the Governor for restoring peace and security in the area and for undertaking the construction of the 25km Mararaba-Udege road.

In his opening remarks, state Chairman of the APC, John Mamman, said the townhall meetings were designed to give people at the grassroots, who may not have direct access to the Governor, to freely interact with him and to tell him their views on the performance of the administration.

Stakeholders in both Loko and Udege were unanimous in their support for the Governor and all candidates of the APC, commending Engineer Sule for restoring peace in their communities and embarking on road constructions.

Some of the stakeholders however called on the Governor to provide employment opportunities to their teeming youths, as well as include their kinsmen and women in every empowerment programme initiated by the administration.

Responding, Sule appreciated the people for turning out enmasse and for according him warm reception.

According to the Governor, though his administration came on board to meet the challenges of security, especially between Maraba to Udege and Maraba to Loko, also between Loko/Ajaga/Nasarawa, the support and cooperation of the people made it possible for his administration to address insecurity and to bring back peace.

He informed the people of Udege that lasting peace has finally come especially with the establishment of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps training school in Udege.

“We tried our best. With your support and that of traditional rulers, we were able to restore back peace. Without your cooperation, we wouldn’t have attained this feat,” he said.

On the request for more employment for the youths, the Governor announced plans to recruit additional 1000 teachers, recalling that his administration already employed over 3000 teachers aimed at boosting the standard of education in the state.

“Because government is not in position to employ everybody, his administration is working tirelessly to attract investors into the state and who will create employment opportunities for the teeming youths.”

He therefore, uses the opportunity to call on the people to be wary of the opposition, who recognising that they lack the capacity to attract big time investors into the state, are resorting to instigating the people to resist private investors from having access to land resources.

“There is nothing that will bring employment to the people like private investors coming into the state. This explains why our administration is not relenting in our efforts to bring in private investors.

“Don’t listen to detractors who are trying to instigate the people to resist investors coming in to acquire land in order to set up their businesses. No investor will take away any land,” he added.

The Governor equally assured civil servants in the state of the full payment of their promotion benefits, urging local government chairmen and overseers of development areas, to endeavor to increase their payment to 50 percent by this month.

He assured by at the end of his first term on May 29, all outstanding promotions benefit would have been paid at the state, local government and development area levels.

Sule informed the stakeholders that, through prudent management of resources, the state is able to save money to be able to pay salaries on the 25th of every month without recourse to the monthly federal subvention.
