Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, mother of the groom, is the world’s richest black woman, so it did not come to many as a surprise, that her son, Folarin’s wedding was a lavish, no-expense spared, fairytale. Folarin, who is one of Folorunsho Alakija’s four sons, got married to Iranian beauty, Nazanin Jafarian Ghaissarifar in a stunning £5 million bash at Blenheim Palace in upscale Oxfordshire lately.
Folarin, a father of one, who is in his late 30s lost his first wife to cancer. He tied the knot with his stunning wife before friends, family and celebrities, including Victoria’s Secret angel, Shanina Shaik.
Although Folarin makes money as an entrepreneur, investor and cinematographer, it’s his mother who has an estimated fortune of $2.1 billion. World-rated stupendously rich people’s data magazine, Forbes rates her the 14th richest person in Africa, but indeed the richest woman in Nigeria.
It’s not far-fetched to say the family must have flown hundreds of close friends and relations over from Nigeria, all of whom were accommodated in the posh hotel for the weekend.
The Woodstock venue, which is the ancestral home of British great, Sir Winston Churchill, was kitted out with one million white roses, a lavish cake decorated with hundreds of ornate white roses and even pop star Robin Thicke was engaged at an estimated £150,000.
Wedding planners unanimously believe the venue was exclusively hired at £150,000 with the bespoke marquee and marble floor that had their initials etched in gold costing around £200,000. Folarin’s new wife, Nazanin, studied Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Manchester, has a Graduate Diploma in Law and has also worked as a model and marketing consultant.
According to the venue’s website, hiring the whole venue is by application, but hiring just the palace and staterooms costs £33,000. One of Folarin’s friends who stood by him all through the London shindig is the MD of FCMB Group, Ladi Balogun who was sighted doing this and that while the event lasted.
