Echendu Ndubuisi Anthony Humphrey, popularly known as Lord Echendu, was born in Port Harcourt, Southern Nigeria on 28 October 1985 To the family of Late General Echendu Christopher Francis Wichendu (Rtd.) of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State.

Lord Echendu happens to be the seventh child out of ten children born to this prestigious family.

After his basic education in Nigeria, Lord Echendu continued to the University College London where he obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering. From there on, Echendu has been on a continuous quest for knowledge, having obtained a professional certification in Engineering from the King’s Entrepreneurship Institute UK, and professional business management certifications from Metropolitan Business School London, Harvard Business School and from the International Business Management Institute Cambridge.

His foray into the business world started at the age of 23, when he launched Esh Services, a warehouse construction company. In 2008, while serving as a Service Engineer for Mas El Masri Ltd. he secured and executed a series of contracts, and in late 2009, he ventured into the oil and gas sector with the establishment of Echendu Oil and Gas; which started out as an offshore servicing company and later expanded into oil refining, petrochemicals and water cargo handling, and general petroleum engineering services in the United Kingdom.

Lord Echendu has also attracted investments into Africa. Firstly in 2011 when he partnered with an Irish investor to introduce the Shindig energy drink in the Ghanian and Nigerian markets, while also making investments in Cash and Carry stores. A similar move in 2014, led to a partnership with Masri Mohammed, the Billionaire chairman and president of Mas El Masri Limited to establish an arm of the warehouse and office space construction company in Ghana.

Echendu Ndubisi has grown his business into a an oversea establishment over the years; The Echendu Group of Companies being one of his greatest investments, has diversified interests in the oil and gas, hospitality, travel and tourism, construction, property management, real estate, and logistics industries.

This company has presence in the United Kingdom, United States, Ghana and Nigeria, with a staff-roll of over 300 employees.

With a kind Herat and thought to give back to society, Lord Echendu birthed and founded the Echendu Ndubuisi Foundation which currently operates as Echendu Unify. This is a non-profit organisation with a focus of uplifting lives in Africa has carried out several charity projects already in Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Benin Republic, Kenya and Ivory Coast. Some of the most recent projects include feeding of prisoners at the Ankaful main prison in Cape Coast, donation of foodstuffs to orphanages, distribution of food and relief materials to 10 communities in Rivers State. To help cushion the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on families and businesses, Echendu Unify recently gave out cash donations to 40 Nigerian youths, 40 Ghanaian youths, 10 Togolese and 5 Ivorians.

 

In recognition of his numerous contributions to the society, Echendu Ndubuisi Anthony has been the recipient of several awards. He was inducted into the Catholic order of St. Anthony for his “services to the growth of entrepreneurship” in April 2010. He was awarded as Best Global CEO at the Afriawards, Young Creative CEO in 2011 and 2018 at the UK Biz Awards, and has been recognised by the UN as an ambassador for Modern UN and was a keynote speaker at the UN’s Peace Across Borders event.
