From Abel Leonard, Lafia
The Director General of the Atiku/Okowa and Ombugadu/Ohinoyi Campaign Council of Nasarawa State, Mr. Labaran Maku, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa of a plot to disenfranchise the people from voting on the day of the election.
Maku made the statement, yesterday, during the campaign rally of PDP, in Kokona Local Government Area of the state, urging women not to sell their votes or allow themselves to be used by anybody who might want to exchange their PVCs for a loan. “It is a ploy to disenfranchise you,” he warned.
Lamenting the prevailing hardship and insecurity Nigerians have been facing since 2015 election, he maintained that Nigeria needed a change.
According to him, despite N14 billion given to Nasarawa State in the last four years as security vote, there is no peace in the state.
His words: “All the major projects APC claimed to have done were initiated by the PDP government. PDP government built secondary schools more than any other government in the state. Federal University, Lafia was built by PDP; so also the federal secretariat.
“The Special Forces base in Doma was built by PDP. I personally signed the memo when I was Defence minister. In four years, the APC-led administration in Nasarawa State only commissioned two motor parks, one in Lafia and another in Karu,” he said.
Also speaking, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, David Ombugadu, promised to prioritize wealth creation through youths and women empowerment as well as agriculture to lift people out of poverty in the state if elected.
