The Police in Ondo State, on Thursday, arraigned a 36 year-old man, Omotunde Ademodi, in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly pretending to be a fortune-teller.

The accused is, therefore, facing one count charge bordering on fraud.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 22.

Orogbemi also told the court that the accused attempted to defraud one Emmanuel Nasiri of N1.9 million through fortune telling.

He further said that the accused and two others at large carried out the crime in an uncompleted building in Ayeka, Okitipupa by acting under the pretence of being a fortune teller.

The prosecutor said Ademodi had no fixed address and no visible means of livelihood.

He said the offence was contrary to Section 424, Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the one count charge leveled against him.

The Magistrate, Mr. Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum N50, 000 and a surety in like sum, adding that the surety must present one year tax clearance.

He adjourned the case till April 14 for further hearing. (NAN)
