Moved by decision of Southern Nigeria governor to endorse restructuring, ban on open grazing and other policies that  would end herdsmen banditry in Southern Nigeria, the Eze Ndigbo  Ghana and the Assistant Publicity Secretary Ndi Eze Ndi Igbo in the Diaspora, HRM Eze Chukwudi Ihenetu has described the measure as a welcomed development.

In a statement, the royal father said the measure was  timely in view of security challenges facing the region. He said with insecurity enveloping the southern region it was necessary for the governors to take such drastic steps to address the problems.

While expressing concern that Nigeria was gradually being polarized along regional and ethnic line, HRM Ihenetu said unless drastic measures are taken to address the challenges, Nigeria would
continue to wobble in confussion.

Furthermore, the royal father said for the first time in many years the governors rose above all odds to converge  in Asaba Delta State, mean that the  south was determined to tackle common problem facing them.

On the implications of herdsmen incursion into farmlands in the South, HRM Ihenetu  said it  has generated food insecurity as many communities has been destablised while farmlands have been destroyed adding that if unchecked,this could lead to famine and food insecurity in the country.

On what the country stand to gain from restructuring, the Nwangele, Imo state-born royal father said states would be able to take control of their resources, security and grow at their own pace adding that problems of ethnicity, nepotism and corruption would become things of the past.

While commending Ambassador George Obiozor led Ohanaeze for quickly intervening on the alleged  IPOB Lagos attack, by visiting Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos State, he said the move doused the tension earlier raised by police report of impending attack in the state.
