A 30-year-old man, Ahmed Amoju, who allegedly collected N45,000 under pretence, was on Tuesday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State.
Amoju, who lives at Iyana-Ilogbo Area, Ota, is facing a one- count charge of obtaining money under pretence.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 28, at about 11.30 a.m. at Abebi, Ota.
Gbesi said that the accused collected N45, 000 under the pretext of selling a cow to one Kamorudeen Ojelade, an agreement he failed to fulfil.
He said that the offence contravened Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr. S.O. Banwo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and swear to an affidavit of means.
Banwo also ordered that the sureties should submit four recent passport photographs to the court and show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case was adjourned until September 7, for hearing. (NAN)
