A 40-year-old man, Femi Adebowale, has been arrested by police in Ogun State for allegedly beating his wife, Kuburat Adebowale, to death for allegedly engaging in adultery.

The suspect, according to the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, was picked up at his residence, 15, Campbell Street, Agbado in Ifo Local Government area of the state, on Monday.

Oyeyemi, ASP, added that the younger brother of the victim, Shakiru Alao, had lodged a complaint at the Agbado Police Division that his elder sister had been beaten to death by her husband.

The DPO in charge of the station, CSP Sunday Omonijo, led his men to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.

In his statement, however, the suspect alleged that the deceased had been cheating on him over a long period, alleging that she even dated their next door neighbour.

Shedding light on what transpired on the fateful day, Adebowale said his late wife had asked him for money for her younger brother’s naming and he gave her a N10, 000.

But, according to him, fight later ensued when the deceased rejected the money on the ground that it was not enough and insisted on more. She, however, slumped and died during the fisticuffs, he said.

The body of the deceased, the PPRO said, had been deposited at the morgue of Ifo General Hospital for autopsy as the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered further investigation and prosecution of the suspect.

Meanwhile, Edo State Police Command has arrested a 35-year -old man, identified as Ishaka Okhurome, for allegedly killing a Fulani woman with blows.

The incident reportedly happened at Agenebode in Estako East local Government area.

Ishaka, who spoke to journalists when he was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, said he was forced to beat his victim to death when she resisted his attempt to steal her phone.

The Commissioner of Police, Gwandu, said that the suspect would be charged to court soon.

In another incident, a 19-year boy, Lawrence Uyimwen, who confessed to have killed some of his rival cultists has pleaded to be given a second chance in life.

Lawrence, who was paraded at the Edo State Police Command, said he joined Junior Eiye fraternity 17 at Auchi, Etsako West Local Government area and was given the name K-fisher. He said, he killed on the orders of his gang leader, Slice.
