The lifeless body of a man was on Friday morning found hanging in a high tension electricity power line in Ohanze area of Obingwa Local Government Area, near Aba, Abia State.
The deceased, identified as Chinenye Mark, from Abayi Ohanze, was alleged to have gone to a neighbouring village to steal the high tension cables but got caught up with the abrupt restoration of power supply to the area.
Villagers who woke up early in the morning to see his lifeless body hanging on the cable lines, were at first surprised and afraid, but later summoned courage to raise an alarm that attracted a crowd including members of the community electricity committee.
A member of the committee, Mr Chinenye Agomuo, confirmed the story, and stating that the cable thief’s body had been brought down and deposited in a nearby mortuary, pending investigations.
