Many people were injured as suspected thugs clashed in Nsugbe, Anambra East LGA in Anambra State, yesterday.
It was gathered that the thugs were working for two different parties in the state.
The suspected thugs smashed bottles as they fought for supremacy in a bid to disrupt the election and scare voters. However, a joint security team, which stormed the place in good time, calmed the situation. The security operatives also impounded a shuttle bus which was abandoned by some thugs who took to their heels on sighting the operatives.
Meanwhile, the APGA candidate for Anambra East and West constituency, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, alleged that some of his polling agents were attacked in Nsugbe.
Efforts to get across to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, proved abortive as he was not answering his calls, but unconfirmed reports said some of the suspected hoodlums were arrested.
