The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the gruesome murder of innocent citizens in parts of the South East.
MASSOB categories those perpetrating the dastardly act as enemies of Ndigbo, adding that nobody should hide under the guise of Biafra agitation to kill their people.
National Director of Information of the group, Edeson Samuel in a statement on Friday, said that it was no longer agitation for Biafra freedom, when people killed their brothers and sisters in the name of Biafra.
Edeson said: “It’s evil and abomination in Igbo land for one to kill his own brother or sister because of their different beliefs, even if they don’t believe in Biafra with you, you don’t have to kill them.
“What happened in Awgu yesterday (Thursday) at PDP campaign rally is a sacrilege and should be condemned by peace loving citizens.
MASSOB has maintained its stand on Biafra agitation which remains sacrosanct, you can’t get Biafra by killing your people because they belong to one political party or the other.
“You can gain their support through sensitization and not by forcing them to join you.
“MASSOB wishes to make it clear that these killer squads are working against Igbo interest, or being paid by our enemies to destroy Alaigbo.
“They have destroyed the economy of Ndigbo, they have turned south east into war zone, killing people at will.
“The attack on the innocent citizens of Awgu yesterday and killing unarmed woman, inflicted others with injury is clear evidence that they are truly enemies of Ndigbo,”
MASSOB pleaded with the so-called “unknown gunmen” to have a rethink if actually they were working for Biafra actualisation, stressing that “Onye gburu nwa nne ya aburo dike (He who killed his brother is not a hero).”
