Anglican bishop of Awka diocese, Rt. Rev. Alexander Ibezim, has urged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ in holiness and righteousness, as a way of resurrecting with Him during the Easter celebration.

The prelate made the call, on Thursday, in Awka, Anambra State, while delivering his Easter message.

He noted that Christians celebrate Easter because Jesus Christ, the son of God is alive which impacts the lives of Christians and community

Taken his message from 1Corrinthians 1:18-19, the bishop noted that God does not tolerate selfishness but rather dispels his wisdom and power, especially in the resurrection of Christ.

“Christ went to cross to manifest his inner character to show mercy, grace and forgiveness which characterise the Easter celebration. Our faith is baseless without Easter. It is the resurrection that authenticates our faith as Christians.

“Jesus was lifted up from the cross and all Christians are lifted up by God’s death on the cross, therefore, we don’t need to live in sin, unforgiving spirit and poverty because God almighty has lifted us up. The gospel is the power that transforms all things” he said

Bishop Ibezim also emphasised that the only way out of Nigerian recession is to embrace peace and seek the face of God like Nicodemus, adding that tribulations prepares Christians for heaven
