Military troops in Borno State have recovered arm cache in some of their offensives against Boko Haram terrorists.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru told newsmen at the headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri, the Borno capital, on Monday, the arms were seized in the aftermath of some battle with Boko Haram elements in the central and northern parts of Borno.
‘This cache of arms is essentially from where we were taking out Boko Haram by our special forces. As I said earlier, we are determined to continue this. Our troops are motivated and well determined to keep this tempo,’ he disclosed.
He assured that troops would not give the insurgents breathing space, adding that efforts would be intensified to clear the northeast of all vestige of Boko Haram.
He also assured that army troops in military operations across the country will step up their action to halt insecurity in the country.
He did not give further details on the location and specific battle where the arms were recovered. He also did not comment on the Boko Haram attack at Mobbar Local Government along the Lake Chad area.
Among the 37 arms showed to reporters on Monday were rocket-propelled grenades, anti-aircraft guns and other artillery guns.
