There is tension in Asemokwu, a fishing community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State as a result of clashes that have so claimed lives.

Among the the victims is the traditional ruler who was beheaded, according to local sources.

Unconfirmed reports said four officers were also killed when their military patrol vehicle was ambushed by hoodlums.

As at the time of filing this report last night, the cause of the crisis was yet to be established. 

A local source said the hoodlums ambushed the army personnel in an attack, killing three officers on the stop while others sustained injuries, adding that another officer died at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba.

“The hoodlums ambushed the army personnel and killed three officers, others were rushed to Federal Medical Center, Asaba.

“One of the injured officers died in FMC. As I speak, the community is on fire, the army is everywhere now.

“The traditional ruler of the Asamokwu village was also beheaded in the crisis, residents have deserted the area,” a local source volunteered. Although, the Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Bright Edafe could not confirm the death of the military personnel, he however confirmed the gruesome murder of the monarch.

“The crisis is between two communities in the local government area but I don’t know yet the cause of the crisis.

“I can confirmed that the king was beheaded but I cannot confirmed the killing of the army personnel,” Edafe said.
