•As Ikpeazu, others mourn

Mother of Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano,  the late Mrs. Christiana Obiano, will be buried on Thursday, July 20, 2017.

Mrs. Obiano died on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the age of 90 at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.

Governor Obiano disclosed the date of the burial when he received some groups and personalities including the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Peter Umeadi who paid him a condolence visit at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

Thanking them for coming to commiserate with him over the loss of his mum which he said had greatly alleviated his grief, Obiano urged them to remain steadfast in prayers for him and his family, especially at this trying period.

Earlier, Justice Umeadi described the late Mrs. Obiano as a woman that lived a fulfilled life, which, according to him was evident in the enviable height her children had attained in life.

In his remark, the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, noted that although the late Mrs. Obiano died at an old age, she would still be missed by many and  prayed God to grant the governor and his family, the fortitude to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has condoled with Governor Obiano. Ikpeazu said: “the late Madam Christiana lived a good and long life worthy of emulation. There is no greater testimony to the great life of Madam Christiana than the son, Governor Obiano, whose life was greatly influenced by his parents.” he said.

On behalf of the government and people of Abia State, Ikpeazu enjoined the governor, his family and the people of Anambra State to bear the passage of Madam Obiano with fortitude.
