Cinematographer turned-Afro hip hop musician, Sadiq Adeyemo Akanji popularly called Mr. Plana, has welcomed the New Year with a new single, Eko (One Lagos).
According to the Givers Never Lack singer, Eko is a song that is very dear to his heart because of the impact Lagos State, which the indigenes called Eko, has made on his life.
Born and raised in Lagos State, Mr Plana who hails from Oyo State, owes everything he is today to Lagos. “This is a song dedicated to Lagos. Eko is one place you can get any and everything you want. In the street of Lagos, there are hustles and flexing at the highest level. Lagos is the entertainment hub that is why there is no better time to drop this single than now.
“Eko explores the difficult idiosyncrasies of the various cities in Lagos. You don’t have to be a Lagosian to know what goes on in Agege, Surulere, Ikoyi, Lekki etc.,” he says.
Produced by Jay Blue and mixed by Sconee, Eko promises to rock the airwaves this year. Meanwhile, the artist has released the video to his popular tune, Givers Never Lack. Shot in Zurich Switzerland, the video was directed by Brazilian Karina Silva.
