Fast rising singer, Joy Obianuju Ikade aka JLover has revealed how her baby daddy broke her heart into smithereens about five years ago.
According to the Delta State-born musician, that particular incidence left her single. But then, she is now ready to give love another chance.
“I’m not in any relationship at the moment. I am single and ready to mingle with the right guy, a man that can fight and stand by me. I need a man that loves God. He should also be ready to support my dreams. I don’t care whether he’s financially buoyant; so far he can work, support and bring food to the table. I have been heartbroken but I dealt with it through music. I also listened to some motivational speakers. I have a son from that relationship. I regretted it at first, but now I really do love him. He’s my super hero. I don’t always want to talk about my past because it hurts,” she told Saturday Sun.
JLover, who is set to drop her long awaited Extended Play (EP), also shared some lessons learnt since she ventured into the music industry. “I’ve learned to stay focused no matter what, and keep pushing and listening to others’ ideas. I try as much as possible to not complain. Just like in every other industry, there are nice people and not so nice people.
There are generous people and selfish people. I have had experiences that have run the gamut. I decided that I was going to be very discerning about whom I worked with. I was going to work only with people who respected me and whom I respected, and I was going to make sure that the business understanding was always clear before we begin work. Indeed, I have had many negative experiences with people.”
