She spoke with Sunday Sun about her firsts recently.

First album

My first album is Adun Igbeyawo released in 1988. People are still asking for it. The album sold well.

First video

I recorded Adun Igbeyawo video but Opelope Anointing video is the one I’ll talk about. It did so well in Nigeria and abroad. It’s still evergreen and loved all over.

First time as a singer

That was in 1976 at Ikorodu in Lagos State. It was during a programme at CAC chapel. I didn’t experience stage fright, because I was in my village choir in Oyo State. Since I was the choir mistress in the village, when I came to Lagos, I had to continue singing.

First performance outside church

That was in 1977 precisely. It was during an agric show. I went for a six-month programme in Agriculture and the last day of the programme was a show I featured in. I rendered ewi at the event.
