The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that he is sure of emerging victorious in the governorship election.

Sanwo-Olu, who voted at his Unit 019 polling unit by Ikoyi Baptist Church, arrived at the venue around 10:30 accompanied by his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

He said he had been going around the state engaging all stakeholders, insisting that he was very confident of victory.

He said; “Today makes it exactly six months that I picked the APC form on September 9, 2018. I have been across the state and engaged with all the stakeholders. I have done the real job of engaging the people. So if you ask me, I will say the same thing I said six months ago; I’m confident of victory.”

He described the exercise as peaceful and organised.

“The exercise as you can see is organised and peaceful.

He said there were minor issues with the card readers, which were resolved in good time.

He scored the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) high on preparations.

“There are no cut-across issues in all the polling units. In some places, the exercise started as early as 08:30 am in other places it started by 9:00am. I think the exercise is going well” Sanwo-Olu said.

On security matters, he commended the security agencies for keeping everything under control, but added that the electorate themselves are the best security.

“There is no amount of security you can deploy to protect all of us. What we can do is to exercise self-restraint and control,” Sanwo-Olu.
