The National President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Hajiya Saratu Iya Aliyu, has  conveyed a heart-felt condolences to the Onitsha Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ONICCIMA) and the victims whose houses, shops and other property were destroyed in the fire explosions .

Aliyu described the explosions as indeed devastating to Onitsha, the hub of economic activities in South-East Nigeria and prayed for comfort for the families affected by the mishap. She encouraged traders to key into insurance policies for effective business risk management.

While extending commiserations to the Anambra State Government on the loss and evident setbacks to economic activities caused by the explosions, she called on the Anambra State government to establish and adequately equip a functional fire service department and also immediately set up fire hydrants at every market in the state to ensure speedy response to mitigate ravaging effects of fire explosions.

“We sympathise with our members and the people of Onitsha whose goods were destroyed by fire. We called on the state government to do everything within its capacity to forestall further occurrence. Well-meaning Nigerians can also come to the aid of the victims of the devastating incident”, she said.
