The Nollywood and African Film Critics Awards (NAFCA) is set to partner with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) to organise the Nollywood and African People’s Choice Awards (NAPCA) and NAFCA Honours in Lagos next year.
Organised in the United States of America for the past seven years, NAFCA Awards aims at recognising outstanding individuals whose professional careers have been marked by extraordinary personal and professional accomplishments. Its inaugural edition, which held in North Carolina, USA in 2011, recognized and honoured the late South African President Nelson Mandela.
On its part, NAPCA is a major African awards which affords fans the opportunity to vote and choose their favorite stars in movies, music, sports and television. Designed to globally promote African cinema and culture with over 500 million fans, NAPCA is considered the largest and highest internationally recognized African People’s Choice Awards in Hollywood.
According to the president/executive producer, NAFCA/NAPCA, Dr Victor Olatoye, his partnership with NTA was informed by its being a valuable member of Nigerian media community and one of the oldest television networks with over 700 million reach globally.
“We continue to receive requests from Africa, and most especially, Nigeria to bring the prestigious award to the continent. But because of the support NTA had given us over the years, the management of NAFCA has decided that partnering with NTA would be mutually beneficial.
“NTA has the manpower, ability and capacity to successfully host the awards. It is pertinent to say that some countries in East Africa have shown interest in hosting the awards, but we have agreed (to partner with NTA) knowing fully that Nigeria is the entertainment hub of Africa,’ he stressed.
As a partner and co-producer of the prestigious awards, NTA will be responsible for seeking corporate, high value individual and government sponsorship, as well as running editorial and advertorial contents that will promote the awards to its viewers globally.
The award ceremony will include celebrity red carpets, VIP dinner, and VIP after party.
