The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) has arrested a notorious importer of fake insecticide in Lagos.

Also arrested is the suspect’s escort driver, who assisted him in transporting the items to different locations and warehouses.

NAFDAC also recovered N50milion worth of fake insecticide from the suspect.

The acting Director General, NAFDAC, Mr. Ademola Mogbojuri, who briefed the press yesterday at Oshodi, Lagos said the arrested suspect had been on the wanted list of the agency since 2015, for allegedly importing fake Kilit and Royal Dream insecticide from China.

He said 1, 539 cartons of Royal Dream and 52 cartons of Kilit insecticide were found in his warehouses.

According to him, intelligence report had revealed that the suspect moved the product to FESTAC Town, where 333 cartons of Read-A-Dream and 281 cartons of Kilit insecticide were discovered.

He said: “We also found some unused labels for the counterfeit products and Rambo insecticide. We shall be coordinating with our International partners.”

He  appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious activity relating to regulated products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
