The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa Command, CP Muhammed Baba, has refuted social media credited to one Mikiya on Facebook of the abduction of Delta State Police Commissioner CP Ari Muhammed near the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

CP Muhammed disclosed this in a press briefing with reporters t his office on Wednesday, saying: “The Command has to state that inasmuch as it did not want to give the social media handle the attention it is seeking for, it however wishes to state that the news publication is false and misleading.”

The commissioner also urged members of the public to disregard the news as it is the handiwork of mischief makers.

on his assumption into office, the commissioner appreciated the journalist for finding time to attend the briefing while appealing to them to give him the necessary support needed to execute his duty.

“You are all aware that a new commissioner of police has been posted to Nasarawa state, it is based on this that I find it germane to invite all of you to this all-important meeting to chart pathways for a smooths and effective policing of Nasarawa state during my tenure as the commissioner of police and beyond.”

“I emphatically want to assure you that crime will be fought relentlessly, I will continue where my predecessor stopped and be available at all times for the people of Nasarawa State,” he added.

He further said as a commissioner, he would also support the press towards ensuring professionalism in information dissemination, while also assuring that during his time as the commissioner of police in the state, he would do his best to ensure that crime is fought and brought to the low level in the state.

“I want to seek your support and collaboration in making sure that issues concerning police be reported objectively and investigative journalism be conducted or carried out before publication. our doors will always be open to you any time and any day.”

Recall that Daily Sun had reported that CP Muhammed Baba Maiyaki had since resumed office as the new commissioner of police, Nasarawa Command, taking over from Adesina Soyemi who was transferred to Benue state as AIG in charge of Zone 4.
