As the momentum is getting high for the Sports Festival draws near, the Gombe State Sports Commission headed by Dr Larry Daniel Terry has received the National Sports Festival Torch of Unity in Gombe to mark the beginning of activities ahead of the event in Asaba Delta State.
At the Commission’s Headquarters, Mrs Zainab Ishaku, who represented the Commission’s Director said that Gombe State is fast becoming one of the most active and sports loving state and have always honored invitations to attend the National Sports fiesta.
“It’s lovely to say that Gombe State is a sporting state. Many thanks to our Executive Governor who have been supportive. I am sure he would have loved to have received this torch of unity himself but I want to say a big welcome to Gombe State, and I wish you safety while going to other states”. She concluded.
While presenting the Torch of Unity to the Director, Garba Musa, who led the team to Gombe, said that by receiving the torch, the state had confirmed its participation at the festival.
In a bid to do well at the Delta State bound festival, Mrs Zainab has charged all coaches and athletes of the commission to redouble their efforts in training in preparation for the festival.
