A Naval rating  has been arrested following the death of a 16 -year- old girl, Miss Nengi Enenimiete in Twon Brass, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The deceased was found dead in Blevera hotel’s wardrobe in November 2022 by the Manager of the hotel.
Since the incident occurred, the Nigeria Police and the hotel management have been searching for the ‘mysterious’ naval personnel who lodged with her in the hotel.
Working on a clue, the Naval Police and community youths were involved by the Nigeria Police to unravel the identity of the prime suspect.
Investigation revealed that the collective efforts yielded fruit and the suspect was eventually arrested.
According to reliable sources, the suspect is being held at Forward Operating Base (FOB),
Egweama in Brass Local Government Area, where he is undergoing interrogation.
A naval source said after the conclusion of preliminary investigation and possible court martial, the suspect will be handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution.

It would be recalled that in November 2022, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bayelsa Command, Mr Asinim Butswat, had stated that “On 21st November 2022 the manager of a Hotel in Twon Brass, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Brass, that he perceived an offensive odour from one of the rooms in the hotel, upon a search hediscovered a lifeless female corpse hidden inside a wardrobe.”

Meanwhile suspected kidnappers struck over the weekend at Okaka area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital when they abducted one Mrs. Janet Ibe, wife of a prominent Yenagoa based businessman, James Ibe.
An Eye-witness account said the victim was close to her residence when a Sienna Car with Abuja registration number blocked her car and five masked men came out and shot sporadically.

Two of the masked men whisked Mrs Ibe into the Sienna and they drove towards Bayelsa Palm road.

Police sources said Mr Ibe who was away in Port Harcourt, Rivers State when the incident occurred has been contacted over the sad development while Operation Restore Hope of the Bayelsa State Police Command has been drafted to go after the kidnappers.
