In a bid to showcase rich Igbo culture to the whole world, Ndi Igbo in Mali on 27 of November converged on Bamako to celebrate Igbo Day/ Cultural Festival.

According to Chief Anslem Chibuogwum Nwosu Akaekpuchionwa1 and President, Progressive Community in Mali, the event was organised to bring Ndigbo in Mali together and also to showcase Igbo culture to the whole world.

The event formerly began with breaking of kola nut  by Chief Stephen Ezeudoye, after which he prayed for unity and progress among Ndigbo in Mali.

On hand to entertain people at the event were Masquerades of different size. As the Masquerades charged into the arena, the whole place was thrown into frenzy as the people  danced to rich Igbo music.

In event attended by Nigeria Ambassador to Mali,  His Excellency, Chief Amb.  Chikezie Ogbonna Nwachukwu, the traditional ruler of Bamako in Mali, and other dignitaries, it proved to be wonderful opportunity especially for the young ones as they seized the opportunity to witness culture of the Igbo race in action.

Earlier, Chief Nwosu prayed for prosperity and good health for Ndigbo who came from far and near to felicitate with their kinsmen.

In his address Chief Nwosu thanked God for his grace which has helped them in successfully hosting the event.

In appreciation of some illustrious Igbo and their friends for service to humanity, awards of excellence was giving to them. Chieftaincy titles was also given out to people with outstanding  characters.
Highlights of the event was the launch and unveiling of Igbo Magazine.

Representative of Igbo leaders  in neighbouring West African countries were also on ground to witnesses the event.

On what Ndigbo have gained from the gathering, the Imo-State born Chief Nwosu said the event brought everybody together under one canopy to eat and unwind under calm and peaceful atmosphere.

In his words admonition, Nigeria Ambassador to Mali, Chief Amb. Ogbonna urges Ndigbo to continue to be law abiding and use every opportunity to portray Nigeria in good light.

While commending Chief Nwosu and the organisers of the event for  such a colourful show,  Chief Ogbonna said event like this will continue to earn Ndigbo high regards from the host community.
