The National Coordinator, New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), Princess Gloria Akobundu, has said that the agency has reposition its operations, ready to drive integration and economic diversification programmes of the federal government.
She said that the peer review mechanism being championed by the agency has identified unique potentials and natural endowment of different states in Nigeria and expose them to potential local and foreign investors.
The NEPAD Chief Executive Officer told Daily Sun in Abuja yesterday that the agency was specifically included into the presidential initiative on the industrialization of the oil rich Niger Delta region because of its capacity to attract investors that are willing to invest in different sectors of Nigerian economy.
She said: “NEPAD’s role in the entire industrialization package was basically to create local, regional and global awareness on different government economic and integration programmes in Nigeria, thus making them accessible to the global investors.”
Akobundu however said that the reinvigorated drive which focuses on rebranding and relaunching of NEPAD Nigeria, human capital development, realignment with development partners and economic diversification with emphasis on agriculture and food security have yielded positive result and acceptance by major stakeholders.
