However, the NFF, being an agency under the ministry will take the matter before the minister for ratification.

A senior member of the NFF told Daily Sunsport that it is a procedure that the NFF needed to go through given the sensitive nature of such appointments. “There will be a retreat on Tuesday where the minister will be given a brief on the foreign coach as well as other issues regarding the world cup qualification race.”

“The need for a foreign manager is to help create a template for the various national teams. “We have 11 national teams and managing them is huge. The idea for foreign manager is to also help our indigenous coach to learn from him too. This is that when his contract runs out, our own coaches can take over following the template that has been put on ground.”
