National Human Rights Commission NHRC has conducted a town hall meeting with gubernatorial candidates in Nasarawa state on human rights issues and 2023 election.

explained that the rights include freedom of association, right to freedom of information and the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

Speaking on behalf of the civil society in Nasarawa State, Executive Director ,Centre for Women Youth and Community Action, CWYCA, Dr. Nawani Aboki advised the gubernatorial candidates to be transparent and more concerned on child rights, gender based violence and the protection of human dignity.

Five governorship candidates were in attendance which included that of the APC, the incumbent governor, Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Director of Strategic Communication, Yakubu Lamai. Others are governorship candidates of Social Democratic Party, Allied People’s Movement, Labour party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance  which was represented by its Director of campaign..
