A tattoo is a mark of identity in the world today. But, other than eye candy, there is very little that a tattoo will offer to anyone other than the owner. It is becoming more and more difficult to have unique tattoos with tattoo artist available around almost every corner. Authenticity is missing. That is why when Nicholas Solomon opened the Crown and Feather Tattoo Co., people were quick to notice the exquisite setup offered by Nick.
The approach that Nick ‘the Tailor’ and his business partners took for the tattoo shop was very forward-thinking in terms of its execution. “We aimed at providing our customers with a luxury experience. We have managers, social media specialists, the best equipment, and the best comfort that can be offered. With the advances in tattoo design and execution, our single needle style is becoming more popular than ever. Not many tattoo artists offer this style outside of New York or Los Angeles, we are the only shops which specializes in fine line work in Philadelphia. It’s why our our customers come to us.” said Nicholas.
Nicholas knows the exact moment that he decided to become a tattoo artist. It was when he turned 18 and got his first tattoo. He was truly impressed by the subtlety, the creativity and the flow of the art. “I was still too young to become an artist so no one would take me on as an apprentice. So, I purchased a tattoo-making kit online, trying to teach myself. I had to work very hard to reach where I am today.” he added.
Tattoo art was also a way for Nicholas to give back to the community. Inside the Crown and Feather studio, Nicholas and his business partners also run a non-profit called The New Chapters Project where self-harm scars are covered free of charge.
