Worried by the Nigerian condition, Founder, Igbo Youth Movement (IYM), Evang. Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko has again raised the alarm that Nigeria is drifting; stressing that the insecurity in the land has become alarmingly glaring that President Mohammadu Buhari must rise to the challenge.

Ugochukwu-Uko who is also the Secretary, Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA), said there is the need for Nigerians to support the recent call by the Yoruba summit group to join hands and drive the early restructuring of the country in order to save Nigeria.

In a statement, he made available to Daily Sun on Friday, the activist lamented on the waste of innocent lives in the country while the president is brokering peace in other lands.

The Deputy Secretary, Igbo Leaders of Thought, observed that time was running out, urging well-meaning Nigerians not to sit on the fence while the country is heading into a cliff.

In his strong-worded passionate appeal statement, he wrote” Mr President just returned from Mali, where he went to broker peace over political differences in that country. For five straight days in Kajuri and other local government councils in southern Kaduna, innocent men, women, and children are daily slaughtered while they sleep, by rampaging Fulani herdsmen. Gory photos of their badly mutilated corpses are currently awash online.

“Katsina and other Northwest states are boiling, whole communities sacked by armed gangs, as the hapless residents run into the bushes. The Northeast remains Boko Haram territory, as military formations are not spared by the bloodthirsty vermin. They kill our soldiers weekly, even as the morale of our soldiers remain low, over the performance of the non-performing over-stayed service chiefs. A few days ago, 5 aide workers were gruesomely murdered in a horrific video trending online.

“Okene -Lokoja road has become kidnappers haven. The horror of Lagos to Abuja travelers. Ajaokuta-Lokoja axis has also become impassable. Kidnappers shoot, abduct, rape, and slaughter Nigerians unchallenged.

“Illegal mining of solid minerals thrive in the North, mostly run by Chinese Mafia. Everybody looks the other way. Our country is drifting.
