Nigeria has improved on the UN happiness report for 2018, finishing in the 91st place among 156 countries surveyed according to World Happiness Report released on Wednesday.

The report ranks Finland as the world happiest country doing so twice in row.

Nigeria’s latest ranking is an improvement on the 2017 report in which the country placed 95th on the log.

The report is an annual ranking featuring 156 select countries across the world released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations. The United Nations has declared every March 20 as International Day of Happiness.

The placement is based on factors bordering on six variables including the countries’ GDP per capita, social freedom, social support, healthy life expectancy, generosity and absence of corruption.

The report shows that whereas Finland is the world’s happiest country, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Switzerland follow in that order. African countries namely Tanzania, South Sudan, Central African Republic and Burundi are the least happy countries, finishing bottom on the happiness table in descending order.
