The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states of the country this morning with chances of localized thunderstorms around Ilorin axis.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) yesterday in Abuja also predicted day and night temperatures of 30 to 32 and 17 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
It added that localized thunderstorms were expected in places such as Yola, Abuja, Lafia, Makurdi, Mambilla Plateau and Jos during the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency predicted that southern states would experience morning cloudy conditions over the inland cities with chances of localized rain showers over the coast of Lagos, Yenegoa, Port Harcourt and Calabar.
It also predicted chances of localized thunderstorms over Enugu, Abakalilki, Umuahia, Owerri, Benin, Yenegoa, Port Harcourt, Lagos, Ijebu-Ode and Calabar in the afternoon and evening with day and night temperatures of 29 to 32 and 22 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to NiMet, northern states would experience cloudy conditions with chances of localized thunderstorms over Maiduguri and Damaturu during the morning hours.
“There are prospects of localized thunderstorms over Maiduguri, Potiskum, Gombe and Bauchi during the afternoon and evening hours with day and Night temperatures of 30 tob34 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
Increased cloudy condition with prospects of localized thunderstorms is expected over most parts of the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
