National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has advised Nigerians to be more conscious of cyber related crime activities in order to ensure their security, individuals, groups and organizations, in the cyber space.

The Agency said it will use the occasion of the 2022 cyber security awareness month (October), to amplify the call for Nigerians to take steps that would strengthen their cyber spaces and also build formidable firewalls that would protect them from possible cyber attacks or bully.

Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, in a statement congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the 2022 National Cyber Security Awareness month with the theme, “stay protected to stay connected”.

He announced that NITDA will engage in several activities that are geared towards helping Nigerians protect themselves in the cyber space, even as he recognized the fact that the threats to technology and confidential data in the cyber space are fast becoming a common place.

He said that some of their focus for the awareness month includes cyber hygiene on social networking platforms, instant loan applications, ability to identify theft, as well as grassroot awareness campaign to educate the populace on prevalent cyber threats in Nigeria

He, equally, confirmed that NITDA will also engage children of different age groups on the best and safest ways to use the internet to avoid unhealthy exposure and bullying in the cyber space.
