From Fred Itua, Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has challenged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Presidential Campaign Team to work hard in ensuring victory for the party.

The president, who spoke at the inauguration of the APC Women team in Abuja, yesterday, said the call become imperative in view of the fact that there was no alternative to APC victory.

The APC Women Presidential campaignTeam is headed by Mrs Aisha Buhari.

Buhari, represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari enjoined members of the team to take the party to greater heights by developing and implementing a collective and inclusive party strategy for smooth victory in the elections.

He described the inauguration of the APC women presidential campaign committee as the most crucial component of the 2023 campaign.

”To this end, I call on all members of this committee to take on this great responsibility as a testament of your selfless service to the APC. I strongly believe that this committee will take the APC to greater heights by developing and implementing a collective an inclusive party strategy to ensure a PCS victory in the 2023 election, because there is no alternative to our victory,” he said.

He added: “As this launch is being hosted in Abuja, we must remember that the real work lies in far places, away from Abuja. The task at hand lies in over 1,000 wards, and 774 local governments across the country where a party faithful will have to make a case before fellow citizens on our party’s candidate by articulating the vision and the programme for the country. The campaign should therefore resist the temptation for it to be turned into an Abuja activity.”

He charged them to extend the same support he had been enjoying from them to the presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, as well as other APC candidates during and after the polls.

Buhari also directed the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, in conjunction with the Minister of Women Affairs, to work closely with the office of the First Lady and the National Assembly to ensure the passage of bills aimed at creating level playing field for Nigerian women.

In his remark,  Tinubu, said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can never return to power owing to its rudderless leadership.

“Our opponents spent 16 years, they had forgotten that the highway is an economy, electricity is mandatory for industrialisation. They don’t understand the transmission lines and the need for maintenance. They couldn’t make a down payment for the trail track. They are a political party of termites. A nation is not built on abusive language… 16 years of rudderless and ditching the wool – PDP shall never come back again. Never again. Who are they? They are looters. Go out there and tell them. A new hope is here. Whether it’s from Imo State we take. Tell them today is women’s day. You are following the man who knows the way.”

Tinubu said President Muhammadu Buhari promised to deal with the insurgency in the North-East and he delivered.

Meanwhile, former governor of Enugu State and senator representing Enugu East, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, has affirmed that Tinubu is hale and hearty.

A member of the PDP, medical doctor and surgeon, he said Tinubu has no health challenge as erroneously being speculated. He said the former Lagos State governor’s health is not encumbered in any way.

“As a medical professional, with honour, I attest to his good health and capacity. Tinubu has a robust general system, acute awareness of his holistic environment, political and in all ramifications, a bubbling and vivacious personality his Confidence easily apparent, sharing and transferable. Engaging him clearly demonstrates good health, energy and readiness to rumble.”
