The Ondo State Government has denied allegation that it plans to relieve some workers in the services of the Local Government Service Commission, especially those attached with traditional rulers, of their work.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Segun Ajiboye, the state government said the Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration has no intention to sack any of its workers.

Ajiboye said “the 600 workers were adhoc staff integrated into local government service and later became full fledge employees of the state government.”

According to him “the removal of the workers’ name from the remittal system does not in any way affect the payment of their salaries, neither does it affect their status as workers in their respective places of assignment.”

“The government’s decision was informed by the need to make the workers more dedicated to their duties and to be committed to traditional rulers they work for,” Ajiboye stressed.

He added that the present administration led by Governor Akeredolu is committed to making the welfare of workers its priority.

It would be recalled that the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had raised the alarm over alleged plan by the state government to relieve some workers in the Local Government of their services.
