The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, has distanced itself from the insinuation that it planned to dethrone the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu, Sa’ad Abubakar, after winning the governorship election.

Its state party chairman, Hon. Isa, Sadiq Acida, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Sokoto on Monday. He noted that the false claim has been sponsored by an opposition party as part of the propaganda to tarnish the image of innocent persons linked to such claims.

“We condemn this ungodly campaign and dissociate ourselves from such claims. People should disregard this ranting of political dead-bodies that are due for burial next Saturday at the political cemetery.

“The APC wishes to restate its respect for our traditional institutions, particularly the Sultanate Council and will ensure it continues to serve as a rallying point to all shades of political opinions. The Sultan remains the father of all Muslims and an embodiment of our cultural and religious values,” Acida explained.
