Senate caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied reports it accused former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of colluding with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to harass lawmakers.
The caucus spoke through the South-East caucus leader of the party in the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and insisted they did not at any time discuss Tinubu.
“It is far from the truth.  We did not, at anytime, discus Asiwaju Tinubu at our meeting and nobody accused the EFCC of anything,” Abaribe said.
He added that the Senate PDP caucus “will not descend to the level of attacking individuals or institutions, for the sake of vendetta.”
Reports at the weekend indicated that PDP senators vowed to fight Tinubu and the EFCC, for colluding to destroy senators.
The report also stated that the PDP caucus accused Tinubu of working hand in glove with the anti-graft agency, to destroy the Senate and impugn on integrity of members.
The report further stated that the PDP Senate caucus, armed with that information, indicated readiness for a showdown with Tinubu, and added that the former governor was behind series of media attacks against them and added that the decision was taken at a meeting, in Abuja, convened by the leadership of the PDP caucus.
Yesterday night, Abaribe insisted the caucus never discussed Tinubu at the meeting and maintained the report was handiwork of mischief makers.
