Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Benue State, Barr. Emmanuel Jime, has said that there is no rift between him and the leader of the party in the state, Sen. George Akume.

Jime stated this in a chat with newsmen, in Makurdi, posited that the rumour about a sour relationship between him and the leader of the party only exists in the imagination of those peddling it.

“There’s nothing about the story that’s true. You know that starring up controversy is the past time of some of our leaders. I believe that for there to be proper governance in the state, there is need to carry each other along.

“People forget so soon that Akume was governor of this state for eight years and one needs to get advice from such person in order to assist you so that you can correct mistakes of the past.

“It is important that you accord those who have passed through before you the respect that they deserve. I don’t believe Akume does not mean well for the state.

“I have a very good relationship with Akume and those peddling such rumor should look for other things to do.

The Managing Director of NEPZA also stated that he had continued to maintain cordial relationship with past governors of the state and expressed the assurance that he would have a good relationship with the incumbent governor, Samuel Ortom too after taking over from him as governor of the state.

“I also have good relationship with past governors of the state and I’m sure to have a good relationship with Ortom in due course.”
