The presidential and National Assembly elections in Warri and neighbouring Uvwie local government Areas is being marred by late arrival of electoral materials to various designated poling units.

As at 9:15am, most of the polling units visited inside Effurun GRA, Osubi, Ekpan and along PTI had no sign of INEC ad hoc staff and materials anywhere round the units while residents were seen in groups sitting down patiently.

The spokesman of All Progressive Congress (APC) campaign organisation, Chief Festus Keyamo, at ward 1 Unit 20, Effurun GRA, lamented the late arrival of materials to his polling unit.

He explained that he was reliably informed that the INEC office in the area was having some hiccups that bordered on logics especially regarding movement of officials and materials to units.

He said “I will still exercise a little bit more patient and if nothing improves I’ll get to the Electoral officer (EO) myself and when nothing happens then I’ll raise the alarm.

Hon. Solomon Igrakpata, former Chairman Uvwie council, also raised similar concern and called on those involved to act fast more so that election was slated to end at 2pm.

The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Oboroweri, who voted at 10:07am at Ward 3, Unit 9, Osubi, decried the late arrival of materials and commencement of the elections.

He was however, very optimistic that since the election had commenced, things would be go on smoothly and at the end of the day his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would carry the day.
