The Novus commodity index, the cumulative average for the week of November 1 – 8, 2017 as published by Novus Agro Nigeria focuses on markets and commodities.
At Dawanau market in Kano State, the cumulative average for imported rice (50kg) for this week is N13,133 with a difference of N267; maize (white, 100kg) averagely selling at N9,100 with a difference of N333 from last week; edible groundnut (100kg) can be purchased at N20,933 with a difference of N400 from last week; drum beans (olotu, 100kg), N25,267 with a difference of N2600 from last week; white garri (50kg), N6,017 with a difference of N2,316.
All the above mentioned commodities experienced decrease in price except for beans (olotu), which had a noticeable increase of N2,600 from last week price.
In Bodija market in Oyo State: White maize (100kg) bag goes for N9,500; edible groundnut (100kg) bag, N28,000; white garri (100kg) bag, N14,000. All prices remain same as last week except for drum beans (olotu, 100kg) bag, N38,167, which had a slight difference of N833; imported rice (50kg) bag, also remains same as last week at average price of N13,250.
At Igbudu market in Delta State: Imported rice (50kg), sold for N17,167; edible groundnut (100kg) sells for N37,000 per bag; drum beans (olotu, 100kg) bag, all the above mentioned prices remain same as last week except for white maize, which increased with N2,600 and selling at N22,000 this week.
At Maikarifi main market in Kaduna State: Edible groundnut (100kg) average sale for this week stands at N27,000 with a difference of N1,000 from last week; white maize (95kg), N8,500 with a difference of N250; white garri (50kg), N16,500 with a difference of N1,000 from last week. All the above mentioned commodities experienced increase in price except for white maize, which decreased, which is new maize.
Relief market in Anambra State: Imported rice (50kg) bag selling at N16,500 for the week with N1,000 difference from last week; white maize (100kg) bag goes for N18,500 with a difference of N1,000 from last week, while edible groundnut (100kg) per bag; white garri (50kg) bag; drum beans (olotu, 100kg) bag remains same as last week while groundnut, garri, and beans are selling at N36,500, N9,000 and N33,000 respectively.
