Match day two of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) decided yesterday across all ten centres produced just one away win and a draw as against two away wins on the opening day. There were however 18 goals same as in the first week.
Lobi Stars of Makurdi, who battled to a goalless draw at home on the opening day against Enyimba, were run away victors against Enugu Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. Samad Kadiri put the visitors ahead in just the 12th minutes before Ibukun Harrison added the second in the 72nd minute. Rangers got their consolation via penalty with six minutes to regulation time.
In Calabar, six-time champions, Enyimba of Aba were held to a goalless draw by Heartland yet to find the back of the net since the start of the season.
Defending champions, Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes continue their impressive runs with victories over Rivers United and FC Ifeanyiuba respectively. While Plateau United ran away with a 2-0, Tornadoes defeated the Nnewi side 2-1 in Lokoja.
Kwara United and Nasarawa United had their woes compounded as they lost in successive weeks. Junior Lokosa and Alassan Ibrahim got their second goals of the season in Pillars’ 2-0 defeat of Nasarawa United to set the stage for the goaleador chase with Ndifreke Effiong of Akwa Utd and Godwin Obaje of FC Ifeanyiuba.
