The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps ( NSCDC) , Lagos Command, Mr Eweka Okoro, said the command was resolute to rid the state of infrastructure saboteurs.

Okoro made the determination known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos .

Okoro said siphoning of petrol, adulteration of diesel, vandalising pipelines, stealing of electrical cables among others, by ill- mannered Nigerians wrecked the economy.

NAN reports that six suspected oil thieves were recently caught by the command while attempting to load a 40,000 capacity truck, with suspected adulterated diesel in Lagos.

Okoro said the command had paraded the six suspects and ordered an indepth investigation into such nefarious act.

He said the command would combat criminal elements that refused to desist from sabotaging the country’s economy and its infrastructure.

The Lagos NSCDC boss said It was shameful for any citizen to get involved in economic sabotage.

“However, this command promises unflinching commitment to the vision and mission of the NSCDC Commandant General, (CG ) Mr Ahmed Audi, to rid the country of illegal dealings, especially on petroleum products,” he said.

Speaking further, he charged Private Guard Companies (PGCs), licensed by NSCDC, to contribute their quota to the fight against insecurity.

He appealed to the PGCs to provide credible intelligence and information to the Corps and other security agencies.

He decried the spread of insecurity in the country and said that all hands must be on deck to proffer solutions to the security challenges confronting the nation.

NAN reports that NSCDC Act of 2007, No 3 and 4 empowers the corps to monitor, supervise, licence and train operators of Private Guard Companies (PGC).
