Vice Chancellor of the Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano, Prof. Shehu Musa, at the weekend, said that all the courses offered by the University have been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Speaking to journalists, he explained that prior to now, only 19 of their 21 programmes had full accreditation, adding that at the end of the Commission’s accreditation exercise, the two courses with interim status were granted full accreditation.
According to him, the courses were Bachelor of Agriculture programme and Bachelor of Science, Geography programme even as he added that plans were underway for the establishment of three new faculties of Veterinary, Pharmaceutical and Medical Science in the university.
He disclosed that Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, has done well in the area of linkages and collaboration recalling that recently a team from the University was were in Pakistan to identify Professors for recruitment in the university in line with the dream of their Chancellor, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
He also held another team of the University, which visited Cairo, in Egypt, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with six universities there in the areas of agriculture, science and engineering to facilitate the staff and student exchanges.
“We also are trying to work out a three plus one or three plus two arrangement in which a student can spend three years in Kano University of Science and Technology , Wudil, and finishes the remaining two years in the Egyptian University and be awarded a degree thereafter” he added.
He revealed that the Chancellor of the university, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has made a commitment to sponsor 15 professors from anywhere in the world to join the team of the lecturers in the Kano state owned university, even as he listed his several areas of intervention in the University.
