The National Union of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Employees (NUFBTE) has wielded the stick on 21 suspended members and a staff for what it termed deliberate infractions against the union’s constitution.

The union’s president, Lateef Oyelekan, said the suspended members were expelled from the union at the extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Monday, 19th October, 2020, in Asaba, Delta State.

Oyelekan said the decision to expel the suspended members and dismiss a former general secretary of the union was among several other resolutions reached and adopted at the NEC meeting.

He said, “The NEC in-session received and extensively deliberated on the report of the National Administrative Committee (NAC) and the NUFBTE Discplinary Committee (NDC)on some suspended members and staff of our union concerning their deliberate infractions committed against the provisions of our union’s constitution and refusal to honour their respective invitations to attend discplinary committee’s hearings to clear various allegations of misconduct levelled against them: “Consequently, the NEC in-session resolved to expel the concerned suspended members from our union.”
