The Governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has been honoured by the Faculty of Administration, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife for his immense contribution to scholarship, institutional development and illustrious performance in business, leadership and politics.
The award was given on Tuesday at the Obafemi Awolowo University campus, Ile Ife, Osun State.
Speaking at the event, the Dean,  Faculty of Administration, Prof Funsho Adesola  described Chief Adebayo Adelabu as a good ambassador of Obafemi Awolowo University and Nigeria at large.
Responding, Chief Adebayo Adelabu who is an alumnus of the University said that the task of building the nation can not be left in the hands of political office holders alone, hence the need for scholars and academicians to also join politics to move the country forward.
He explained that it is through participation in the political system of the country that the challenges facing the country can be reduced if not eradicated.
“I want to appreciate the Dean of Faculty of Administration, Professor Funsho Adesola, Head of Departments, Lecturers and students for counting me worthy to be honoured. The greatest honour is to be honoured at home. I value this award so much and I am grateful for this award. Anytime I get award from Obafemi Awolowo University,  either from its management, alumni or students,  I always hold it in a very high esteem”, the elated Adelabu stated.
“My aim of joining politics is not to make money because God has answered my prayers. You do not necessarily need to be a billionaire, just be comfortable and be ready to contribute your quota to the society through political participation”, Adelabu said.
Recently, the Federal Government of Nigeria had  conferred the National Award of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) to the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for his outstanding performance while in office and appreciate his contribution towards the advancement of the country’s fiscal system.
The former CBN deputy Governor was accompanied by Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, Director General, Adebayo Adelabu Campaign Council, Hon Gbenga Olayemi Ariba , Mr Femi Adebayo, Mr Bukola Awofiroye, Mr Boye Akande, Mr Ayodele Alade, Comrade Femi Awogboro and many others.
