Gunmen Thursday morning clashed with policemen at a checkpoint in the Ndiagu Ogboji axis of Ezza North local government area of the state.

It was gathered that two policemen were killed in the attack.

Chairman of the Human Right Defenders (HURIDE), Ebonyi State chapter, Oko Nweke, who is from the area, confirmed the attack adding that other officials sustained gunshot injuries.

“Gunmen this morning clashed with men of the Nigerian Police Force at a checkpoint between the boundary of Ndiagu Ogboji and Agba communities of Ebonyi State,” he said.

“According to unconfirmed reports, about two policemen were shot dead while others sustained varying degrees of gunshot wounds. The UGM also set the police operational vehicle on fire.

“Ogboji is a community in Ezza North LGA while Agba is in Ishielu LGA, all in Ebonyi state”

Police spokesperson Chris Anyanwu, when contacted, confirmed the attack, adding that details of the incident were being awaited at the Command.
