FROM ROMANUS UGWU, ABUJA
SENATE Committee Chairman on Sports, Obinna Ogba yesterday distanced himself from Giwa’s group, even as he assured that the National Assembly would do everything within its powers to move football forward in the country.
Senator Ogba who spoke during the Extra-Ordinary Congress organised by the Amaju Pinnick-led Executive Board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), to discuss current developments in the country’s football noted that he had nothing to do with the court order Giwa’s group secured last week, despite being one of the plaintiffs way back in 2014.
Ogba stressed that he was not in Jos last week when the relisted case came up for mention insisting that he is not locked in any legal battle with the NFF.
“My presence here has written everything you want to hear. I want to put on record that since I became the Chairman Senate Committee on Sports, there is nothing Amaju (Pinnick) will say he asked from me that he did not get.”
“What is important is to be focused and whether it is ordinary politics or football politics, you must leave one window open for reconciliation.
I want to assure the congress that in this football family that I am a member and I will still remain a member.”
