Ogun State Governmnet has shut down about 186 illegal health facilities in the last one year to curtail  intemperance activities of quackery among the health workers.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, disclosed this when he addressed newsmen in Abeokuta, against the backdrop of operating illegal health facilities and increase of quack doctors in the state.

He said those arrested by a monitoring team of the ministry, either operating with fake certificate, invalidation of licences or engaging in health facilities without government authorisation, have been charged to court by the Ministry of Justice. Ipaye emphasised that the state would not condone any illegal health activity because of its immeasurably contribution to the health sector and added that whosoever engaged in illegitimate act and arrested would not go scot free. “The state government will not fold its arms for anybody to operate illegal health facilities, those who intend to do so or has been doing that should, henceforth, desist from it or ready to face the full wrath of the law,” Ipaye said.

He said it was imperative for health facility owners in  to revalidate their licence, as the ministry’s inspection teams would soon go out for thorough inspection and anyone caught with fake certificate or expired licence would be dealt with accordingly.
