A faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his resounding victory in last Saturday’s presidential poll.
Addressing a press conference in Enugu, yesterday, Secretary General of the Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Mr Uche Okwukwu, said with the result of the presidential election, it has become glaring that Ohanaeze’s President General, Chief Nnia Nwodo, deceived and misled the Igbo by adopting former vice president, Atiku Abubakar as their choice candidate for the election.
Okwukwu said he should have got facts and followed the constitution of Ohanaeze before taking a decision of such magnitude.
He expressed dismay that appeals to Nwodo to shift the Imeobi meeting, where the flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was endorsed to enable governors and members of the Imeobi to attend, met brickwalls as the meeting was concluded before 6:00p.m.
He disclosed that an enlarged delegation of Ndigbo would be in Abuja, next week, to formally felicitate with the president and, also, present him with a charter of demands.
Okwukwu had disagreed with Nwodo over the group’s endorsement of the presidential candidate of the PDP, before he eventually led some Igbo leaders and traditional rulers, mainly Eze Igbo in the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to adopt Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
